Hi all!

How've you all been? This entry is written assuming some of you actually *still* come to the site as I haven't a clue how to reach all of you. I'm not sure how results day went but by now most of you have made big life-altering decisions about the future I'm certain. I must say that I was a little disappointed I couldn't be around to issue the result slips but we must all move on right? Wherever your decisions have brought you, know that it represents new beginnings. The promise that things can potentially be great this year. Will keep the entry short and end here. Merry Christmas to one and all! Here's wishing all of you love, peace, joy & happiness during the season & over 2010! Looks like 2010 is going to represent new beginnings of sorts to all of us-you moving on to higher education, I moving to another country. Speaking of moving countries, I will be leaving Singapore on 6 Jan 2010. This being a busy period and all, I'm really sorry but I will not be able to host all of you over at my place. Truly, I would have loved to, but time doesn't seem to permit it. Thank you all for being such a wonderful class-responsible & thinking pupils :) Again, I wish you all the best for next year! Autumn Leaves & Winter Approaches

Hi all,

Wow...time really has flown, hasn't it? The year is almost coming to an end and your O Level exams are just round the corner (the one week kinda corner). In the Northern Hemisphere, it is now the season of Fall (or Autumn). It's when the leaves turn different shades and hues or yellow and red and begin falling off trees. It's a time of change and the bitter, cold season of Winter approaches. The picture of the tree below is one I took whist in Melbourne last year. Autumn is my favourite season-mainly because it brings with it the promise that once the cold, miserable moments of Winter are over, the sun will shine again.

Preparing for the speech was a bittersweet experience. I taught many of you in Sec One and to see you all mature into young men and women has been a heartwarming experience. I'm very proud of the person each and everyone of you has become-crazy yet very respectful of your teachers and friends. In many ways, I'm sad to see you all go but at the same time, it's wonderful because I know you have completed your studies in secondary school and are moving on to greater things life has yet to show you.

I'm sorry I haven't been around very much, but I'll definitely try next week. Your season of Winter approaches, but with it comes the promise of Spring-the time for you to let loose and enjoy life again. For now though, hit the books and remain focussed. You can all do it!!!!

And before I sign off to do laundry, I'll need to do my requisite nagging (otherwise my life wouldn't be complete right?)

I know, it's supposed to be half an hour but I always think preparing to go early is good. Murphy's Law happens to the best of us! Plus, psychologically, it's an excellent!

Time flies and there are only 9 more days left to the O levels.
We have all finally graduated , that was what we were looking forward to starting of this year,to graduate.
But when the day finally comes,there are alot of mixed feelings and cant bear to leave the sch
cos we'll miss all our friends and teachers who helped us alot .
I wish everyone good luck for O levels and i hope the path ahead of us after leaving sec school will be smooth , will miss all of you alot ! although i only came to this class last year,but i really made good friends and there were alot of fun moments too .
Hope we'll all continue to keep in contact okay !

Hi all,

Congratulations to those of you who are done with the exams...looks like this will be yet another looong weekend for you-I'm SO envious...:)

Well, just a reminder (again!!) to bring your ODTs on Monday as there will be a temperature taking exercise during the first period. Please do remind your friends, who may not read these posts frequently.

On a more upbeat note, we have CDP on Mon (yay!) and we will discuss the issue of the chalet then? It's true that I feel rather incomplete not seeing all of you the last two weeks :) See you all on Monday! Come rested and rejuvenated to begin intense preparations...:)

Oh, the pics are of the snowfields in Victoria, Australia where I was based last year. Just thought I'd share them with you to remind you that you will always have mountains to climb and the view from the top is always worth that climb, so keep at it! :)

One week of exams down and another to go...Just a quick reminder to bring your ODTs on Tues. Please remind your friends on Monday night if they do not read this blog as frequently. The attendance for this prelim exam has been dismal and do remember if you want to do well, you have to at least turn up for the papers. Your teachers and you have invested a lot of time and effort in preparing for these exams. Have a good rest and enjoy the weekend! To all the Muslim pupils, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!

Class Chalet!

Hey guys.

Regarding the issue about having a class chalet after the O's, since nobody is making a move in making this thing happen, Me and Rui Liang decided to make this thing work. Both of us are really trying our best in making this chalet happen and to make it happen we need EVERYONE co-operation:

Would you guys want it to be held late November ( 23,24,25) or early December (date not confirmed yet) ?
Which chalet you guys prefer? Aloha Loyang or Aloha Changi?
How much do you think we'll should fork out? $20 maximum can ?

I've check the rates for 2 nights as a few suggested the chalet should be a 3D2N one. One night is about $250 so if we're staying for 2 nights, it should be bout $500. $250 per night is one of the cheapest rate I could find. However if you guys have any other suggestion, you could approach me or Rui Liang.

Hi all!

So the Science Prac is over (phew!-and I'm referring to both the teachers & you since all of you finished ALIVE!) Prelim 3 is looming around the corner and I know many of you are already exhausted and wondering if you'll make the mark. If you ask me, I know that if each of you dig deeper than what you see in the mirror, you certainly can. Know that before this year, many of you were top students in your level. This is just one more hurdle you have to overcome and I believe each and everyone of you can cross it, provided you put in the required effort (which I think many of you have started) Do remember to focus your study on practice papers-your previous prelim papers as well as the 10 year series since these are what we call 'exam smarts'-so you know which topics you need to go back to the drawing board (i.e textbook)

It's almost the last lap so stay motivated. All your teachers believe in you so now's the time to start believing in your own abilities and industry. Use your time wisely over the one week break-take time to breathe but be wise about the type of activities in addition to the length of time you spend on it? :)

Hi all,

Yes, I finally figured out how to get a post in AGAIN!I apologise for my 'disappearance'-was attending a meeting after the celebrations. I really did want us to take a class photo but we can always do that at your graduation. To make up for it, I've decided to write this lil note to say thank you for the card (or should I say board??). Your little posts on them meant a lot to me, notwithstanding the fact that this is probably my last Teachers Day celebration here.

More than your gifts and cards (although they are treasured) I want all of you to be a success, whatever your passion in life. That is the challenge I want you to always remember. Never be afraid to dream big dreams, never be afraid to fail and always do what makes you happy.

When I first came to NVSS, many of its students were from backgrounds vastly different from the one I grew up in. I cannot claim to inspire you, coz it is you who inspire me. I cannot claim to teach you, coz you are really my teachers-your resillience, tenacity and 'invincible' spirit have moved me beyond words.

I've put up the lyrics of the song "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack coz it reminds me constantly of what I wish for each and everyone of you. It was written for the songwriter's daughter and the wish for that child as she grew up. I'm not sure if you've heard it since only 'old' people like me might have but I hope every time you hear this song in the future, you will remember that you were once unafraid and daring. So 5A2, my wish for you this Teachers Day is that if ever in your life you are given the chance to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance!

Booking of chalet

Therefor, i have to booked it preferably by next week. Also, you have to take note that the BBQ have to be either on Friday night or the weekends IF you the want teachers to attend the BBQ.

Hi all,

Just a short note (I'm still trying to get used to 'blog lingo') to wish all of you a Happy Youth Day! Last one for those of you moving on to the polys :)

Also, the class BBQ will be postponed to 7 August. I'm terribly sorry to disappoint and mostly embarrassed coz this is the second time I'm postponing it, but your exciting prelims (??) are just round the corner so best we focus on that first.

Stay healthy, take your vitamins & study till it hurts! Enjoy (or at least try to) the long weekend! I'm sure all of you are going to do great-including Rui Liang! Below is a short extract of a poem I always found meaningful and I wanted to share it with all of you:

Hi everyone!
Hope the first day of school went as smoothly as any first day would? Just a short note to extend my thanks to all who made this blog possible. This would be an interesting means of communication for all of us. This will be a short semester, and extremely fast-paced. I know many of us will get tired along the way, but I assure all of you, the light is at the end of the tunnel (and it's definitely, *fingers crossed* not an oncoming train!)

Just a note of caution, since the pen is mightier than the sword, whilst I respect your freedom to opinions, do exercise restraint in writing what you otherwise would never say directly to someone? That being said, many of you would have already seen your timetable and will have realised I will only see the entire class for CDP lessons (which might be of some relief to some of you?). So this technological medium might be a great way for all of you to communicate your thoughts with me?

I'll see you all on Wed!
